As a sleeping bag and stay warm enthusiast, I am in love.
The Selk’Bag Sleeping Bag hopes to entirely reinvent the way you camp– whether that’s in a forest wilderness or the comforts of your own home. The Selkbag makes the sleeping bag mobile, giving you the free movement to walk about instead of being stuck on the floor in a cocoon. The design itself is comfortable and even a bit stylish– you can freely rock the Selkbag without looking like, well, a douchebag. It does have a few shortcomings, but we love designer Rodrigo Alonso’s ingenuity with this design.
The basic sleeping bag is all in one wrapped unit for a reason: the closer your extremities to your body, the more heat the bag retains. The fact that your arms and legs are separated will allow less core heat to be stored within the bag. Second, sleeping bags don’t get very dirty, but a mobile version could collect a whole lot of dirt, campfire smoke, leaf debris and otherwise. These issues combine to make the Selk’bag not the most camping friendly unit.
Any other application, from cabin camping to visiting friends from college to hanging out around the house– the Selk’bag will do you right. It’s the thinking man’s Slanket, and it looks a hell of a lot better than that blankety relative. In all, we love the design, we totally want a Selk’bag, it’s the best thing to happen to comfortable around-the-house clothing since the footie pajama’s we rocked as kids. [via]
FotoWeek DC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2008 to celebrate the power of photography. Our first annual weeklong festival brought over 20,000 visitors to the Nation’s Capital, galvanizing the Washington, DC community. Washington is unique in the photographic world, consisting as it does not only of a nexus of talented photographers, but also its far-ranging collections of photography. From national institutions like the Smithsonian to edgy galleries on 14th Street, the image is everywhere, and FotoWeek DC was created in part to pay tribute to this. The inaugural competitions attracted an astounding amount of high caliber work, and a photographic light show on the walls of the Nation’s monuments was, well, electrifying.
FotoWeek DC isn’t just about seven days or one city, however. Exhibitions continue throughout the year, including our most recent exhibition, Fotobama, at the Newseum. The educational, community building and informational exchange platforms we provide for photographers and photo enthusiasts have expanded to an international level, which is why, in 2009, our awards competition has gone global. Finally, as the first organization to recognize the need to create a photographic forum that engages people of all ages, races, and economic means, FotoWeek DC hopes to foster both grassroots initiatives and public/private partnerships to publicize global issues and encourage positive social change.
In honor of LIVE EARTH 7.7.07 , I made this wallpaper entitled One Planet. It represents the fact that although we all come from different countries and we all speak in different languages, we all follow our own government and our own religions - we are all the same. The only thing that separates us is our country name. And that’s the meaning behind this. [via]
“If there are countries not on here, they were not left out purposely; and I am truly really sorry if I offended anyone.”
Listen, I love women. I can be kind, but I can be angry too. One of the things I hate most about women is the “boyfriend line”. I think women get off on it. I think it’s worse than a “fuck you”. An example would be a young man helping a female classmate study. The guy doesn’t want to study. He was hoping to go straight home after class, but he was asked for help. Humorously enough, after the study session, he may ask her to accompany him for some lunch. “I can’t. I have to meet my boyfriend (We’re going to fuck and laugh about how I wasted your time for my benefit. To think you could get this pussy. You’re so gullible. Ah ha ha.). Fucking women.
I seriously wish I had the guts to do what this man does.
This is old new, but still pretty cool. The statue was built to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first broadcast of the “Mobile Suit Gundam” anime on television. The completed Gundam statue is expected to weigh nearly 35 tons, move its head and emit light or mist from 50 points of its body. See more photos via Toys R Evil.
I’m pretty sure the U.S. have already looked into it to make sure it’s not a weapon. If it is, I’m sure the U.S. has a response and/or is a part of the team behind the team that created this. I hoping for too much.
This is a handy chronological time period of all the online social communities. That being said, I can understand why Tumblr is not listed (Tumblr is a blog site). Then again, why is Xanga up there then? Anyway, this is a pretty neat illustration to view. I’m pretty impressed. I didn’t that Vkontakte was popular like that. Vkontakte is the Russian answer to Facebook. It’s almost a mirror.
I miss sex; sex like this. It’s an incredible workout on your arms and this position gives you such a great sexual feeling of invincibility. There’s nothing more satisfying in a young man’s life than to see a woman in bitter sweet pleasure from his doing.
After a few early rumors and leaks, the Nikon D3S Digital SLR has been officially unveiled by Nikon. Nikon’s new flagship focuses on low-light flexibility, giving news and sports photographers a greater level of light sensitivity when a flash cannot be used. The Nikon D3S features a redesigned 12.1 MP sensor and an ISO range of 200 to 12,800 (which can even be boosted to 102,400 ISO), making for high quality, noise free photographs when natural light is not-so-friendly.
The Nikon D3S also adds 720p HD video recording, a feature not included in Nikon’s last iteration of their flagship. This includes software functionality to decrease the effects of rolling shutter, which can harm the quality of video recording on a DSLR. The D3S will be coming this November for a price around $5,200 for the body. No word on lens kits yet, but expect the D3S to work with most Nikon/Nikkor lenses. [via]
